Birthday Party Game : The Farmyard
Posted by: | CommentsThis game, if carried out properly, is great fun. One of the party announces that he will whisper to each person the name of some animal, which, at a given signal, must be imitated as loudly as possible.
But instead of giving the name of an animal to each, he whispers to everyone, with the exception of one person, to keep perfectly silent. And to this person he whispers the animal he is to imitate is a donkey.
After a short time, the signal is given. Instead of all the party making the sounds of various animals, nothing is heard but a loud bray from the one unfortunate member of the party.
“I POINT”
The guesser chooses an accomplice unknown to the rest of the party.
When the game starts, he leaves the room.
On his return he states what person was pointed at during his absence.
But how could he know?
Here’s how:
It’s secretly agreed between the guesser and his accomplice that whoever speaks last before the guesser leaves the room, will be the person who is to be pointed at. It is very seldom that any one discovers this trick.
The History of Halloween Costumes
Posted by: | CommentsHalloween has a distinct history. It takes place worldwide on October 31. In the United States and Canada dressing in costume by both children and adults is traditional and ‘trick-or-treating’ takes place. Pumpkins are carved into jack-o-lanterns and Halloween parties for both adults and children feature haunted house displays, ghost stories and games like bobbing for apples. Images of ghosts jump out from decorated homes, as do skeletons, black cats, witches and other goblins. Halloween parades are rampant.
Halloween has its origins in the Pagan festival of ‘Samhain’ (pronounced: SOW ehn). This simply translates into ‘summer’s end.’ Originally a festival that marked the ending of the harvest and the beginning of the winter season, the in 800s, the Church established a mirror holiday, ‘All Saints’ Day’ on November 1. ‘All Hallows’ was another name given to ‘All Saints Day.’ The definition of hallow is saint, or holy one. ‘All Hallows Eve’ the evening before ‘All Saints’ Day’ became known as ‘Hallow e’en’. Now it’s just called Halloween as slang for the original name.
Pinata Birthday Game
Posted by: | CommentsThis is a game that needs plenty of room – the kids are blindfolded and are given a stick They try to break up a hanging container that has sweets chocolates and other small goodies in it.
You can make on of these up by decorating a paper bag with paints or crepe paper and then sticking the top shut once the sweets are inside. Tie a string along the top edge before closing the bag. You could also make a fancier one with a balloon and paper mache. The great thing is that you can decorate it to match any theme. Or you can a pinata to match your party theme.
Hen Party Ideas
Posted by: | CommentsSweet Wrappers
Hen parties can be great fun for the bride-to-be and her friends, particularly if you tailor it to your guest of honour. Nothing will be more fun than the bride-to-be spending a day and/or night with her best friends. There are lots of great activities to do and places to go in addition to your “traditional” types of hen party antics. Here are some ideas for you:
Spend a day, night or weekend at a Spa
Whether local or in a town setting or at a remote place, everyone is sure to have a relaxing time pampered with manicures and pedicures, massages, saunas, facials and mud baths.
Makeover
Take your friends to a beauty salon or have a professional make-up person come to the party so that everyone can get the full treatment. You could include this in a day of activities..
Ask the Avon lady to share great new products with everyone and then your friends can buy the bride-to-be all her favourite things for the big day.
Plan an afternoon at the local Make-It-Yourself Pottery Studio
Most companies and event places will let you bring your own food and drink. Make a party of it!
Ask the bride-to-be what kind of houseware she could use in her new home and let everyone make something in her chosen colors. Definitely a fun time for all with this one.

Ghost Lamps
Posted by: | CommentsCut out shapes of spiders, bats and witches out of cardboard and tape to the inside of lampshades. Paint or colour them black.
Replace the lightbulb bulb with an orange coloured one.
You could also use chinese lanterns to help build up the effect.
Continue the theme with strings of small orange or red Chinese paper lanterns, with fairy lights.
Place a candelabra on the table top with orange . For a creepy effect use green lightbulbs.
If you have pot plants, drape them with black cloths and spray them with cobweb spray, available at most toy stores.
Continue the theme with black spiders and bats from black cardboard hung low throughout the room, even better where people will bump into them in the dark.
Halloween Paper Bag Lights
Posted by: | CommentsTo create a lovely effect leading up your driveway.
Here you will use some brown paper lunch-size bags. Pour about 3 inches of sand or soil in the bottom of the bag and open up so the sand holds the bag flat on the ground.
Place a little candle in the sand and make sure it doesn’t stick out over the top of the bag.
The sand bag will keep the candle secure and when it is lit, and it will protect the flame being extinguished by the wind.
Just to be safe, have water handy in the event that the bag catches fire.
At your front door place some Halloween jack-o-lanterns and have some large cardboard cut-outs of a witches and bats on the door.
PLease make sure never to leave a flame unattended. Keep away from paper, or object that may catch fire.
Make sure candles are not put where guests may knock them over or brush up against them.
